Our History

Farnham Park Golf Course was originally the 9 hole Ladies Course of Stoke Poges Golf Club which was owned by Sir Noel Mobbs, the architect of Slough Trading Estate. Prior to the first world war the course was played regularly by the local ladies. When the first world war broke out the course was returned to farmland. However, those working the ground kept the tees and greens throughout the duration of the war.

Following the war the course was returned to a nine hole golf course. Then 1939 it was once again returned to farmland to aid the second world war effort. Brian Matthews, then a young lad, who farmed the course once again kept the tees and greens in good order for their use after the war.

A deed of gift with Charitable Status was given by the Mobbs Family to the people living in the area and by an Act of Parliament. Eton Rural Council were the first operators and following boundary changes, Slough then South Bucks District Council took over the Management of the Course.

The Farnham Park Golf Course (now called The South Buckinghamshire) was reopened in 1975 and Farnham Park Golf Club was formed in 1977. In 1982 the Council purchased more land and Hawtree were asked to develop an eighteen hole course. The course is a fine 18 hole parkland course with many established trees and ditches crossing the fairways. It is a par 70 for the men and a par 73 for ladies.
